StarNav Presents to Telecom Council at SRI International in Silicon Valley

Menlo Park, CA  – 11/08/2022 – Today, StarNav’s Director of Emerging Markets, Austin Jack, pitched the company’s vision for growth into the telecommunications industry and plans for the future at SRI International’s headquarters in the Silicon Valley Region of California for the Telecom Council’s November Innovation Review Meeting.

Jack explains, “Minutes, if not seconds, could determine a person’s survival when suffering from a heart attack or stroke. A loss of life could occur due to the loss of GPS if emergency services are unable to locate an individual after they call 911. It’s time we fix the problem and offer more solutions to this industry.”

StarNav’s technology makes systems more reliable and safer by making them less dependent on GPS. The United States Department of Homeland Security currently considers 13 of 16 major U.S. infrastructures (telecommunications, emergency services, banking, etc.) to be critically dependent on GPS. In Jack’s presentation to SRI, he revealed “StarNav’s solution moves 13 towards 0, enhancing reliability for these infrastructures and strengthens the U.S. as a whole.”

From a global perspective, with tensions rising in Russia and recent threats to bring down GPS satellites, the U.S. is beginning to think more critically about how to ensure position, navigation, and timing (PNT) remains available when threats to national security worsen during conflict. “It is imperative companies [like StarNav] continue developing technologies to provide a back up to GPS”, said Jack.

What sets StarNav apart is their ability to utilize several signals of opportunity in any environment for PNT. StarNav’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Joshua Morales explains “we have few known competitors in this space that are using just one alternative signal. With further development of our receivers, we can offer any company the ability to use multiple signals from low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite and terrestrial signals anytime and anywhere for their application. We have yet to see our strategy replicated elsewhere.”
